Not worth the money

I kept hearing that this app was so great, and would save a ton of time... NOT! The keyboard on ios is awful, its a pain to use. I havent purchased this for the Mac, and I dont think Im going to since the iOS app stinks.

Im sorry

I hate to say this but I agree. The keyboard is abhorrent. Ill give u five when its fixed. One love.

CRASH MUCH???

Wow - not ready for prime time. Crash after crash, after crash.... Please update this broken app. I cant even put in what I want it to type without it crashing.

Works like a charm!

Easy and fun to use. I just upgraded from an older version. Its on my iPad Air 2 and iPhone 6+. saves me lots of time when I write psychological reports that have lengthy titles for tables, so – for example – typing "bemean" almost magically becomes … "Differences Between Subtest T-Scores and the Mean T-Scores of the Core Subtests" its a real timesaver. get it, youll be glad you did!

A few minor problems, works great!

Ive used TE on my Mac for years, cant live without it,and it has worked great for me on the iPad as well. I cant believe all the negative reviews here. It is really a great app. Perhaps people are not reading the documentation and turning on support for expansion in apps that support it natively. I dont use the Smile keyboard on iOS; I agree that it is lacking, and Apples keyboard is still my favorite. That means that some apps are not supported by TE; I live with that. I like to use Drafts to write most things, which natively supports TE, as does MacJournal.

Dissapointed

They dont really make it clear the limitations of the app. And its very limited.

Works best when text expansion is supported within apps.

Works best when text expansion is supported within apps... The keyboard is poorly designed and frustrating to use.

After Manual Worthwhile

I had to read the manual and learn how to use it before it was of value. Learn how to turn it on and off, and use the smart macro inserts, like to enter current date and time.

What happened to the iPad Pro?

Ive been using TE for years on Mac and iOS. Just bought an iPad Pro and I keep getting an error. Please update!

Don’t expect anything like the Mac app

Wow this thing is bad. I get that there are certain restrictions with iOS, but the solutions aren’t very helpful. Might as well just use the built in text shortcuts that Apple allows you to create. Save your money.

Close to being perfect

I really like that I can share my OS X snippets with my iOS devices using Dropbox. Although I have to remember to refresh my snippet library when I add new snippets on my Mac, its still super-convenient. That being said, the keyboard targets need to be calibrated a bit and the keys themselves could be larger and should ideally simply mirror the built-in iOS keyboard in terms of layout. The extension itself tends to hang/crash often and Ill have to force quit the app in order to get a keyboard to load.

Still not perfect

I am an old fan of TextExpander on Mac. In many years I have always enjoyed a high standard coding product and responsive support by the developer. Unfortunately, this time I am deeply frustrated as the latest update of the iOS companion app is still too clunky. That keyboard doesnt work the way it should, period. I hope that the developer will fix this piece of software and make it valuable back.

Good app on Mac, but has issues on the iPad

Ive used TextExpander in my Mac for years, but the iOS version is disappointing: no evident way to sync it with my existing snippets, text selection by touching the screen (standard in all iOS writing apps) does not work, cursor insertion into the middle of a word does not work, and no cursor control. Ive yet to find a settings screen. Poor overall!

Time saver

I use TextExpander Touch dozens a time each day, saving time. Syncs snippets between OSX and iOS. The custom keyboard works perfectly within the restrictions set by Apple for iOS. Its snippets capabilities are a thousand times more powerful and robust when compared to whats baked into iOS. Highly highly recommended!

Excellent Keyboard

TextExpander has been an integral part of my workflow for the past couple of years. The keyboard integration works well for the most part. The sharing of snippets with some of my favorite apps like Drafts really helps to save time. I dont have to switch apps to use them! I still wish more apps would use Smiles SDK, but for those that dont the keyboard presents a reasonable solution. Im glad TextExpander decided to continue to support version 3 of this app! Thanks Smile for listening to your customers. Im willing to give TextExpander 6 a go now that I know you have my back with TextExpander 5 support!

Perfect keyboard

I love this keyboard and the Mac app. I do not like the new subscription model so I will be sticking with this great keyboard and hope it will continue to be supported.

Unacceptable Deletion of Features I Paid For

This app is now less than what I paid for and received. Its no "upgrade" to remotely degrade what I paid for.

Was good! :(

Before works fine, but now, apparently, requires Mac version to works (and I deleted mine), so I give up this app, but would be good have my money back. :( :( :(
